The London office of Signet Planning was opened in 2007 and gives the company a presence to deal with projects throughout Greater London and the South East, as well as allowing London-based clients to have a linkage with the company when dealing with projects outside the capital. The director in charge of the office, Paula Carney, has a great deal of experience in dealing with London based projects where specialist knowledge of the policies applying in the London Plan is particularly important. A number of key issues arise in virtually all schemes in London relating to the specific approach of the Mayor in terms of affordable housing, tall buildings and transport relationships and other development control issues. The office is responsible for a number of major planning projects.
Prominent amongst these is the “Delivering a new Wembley” scheme being implemented by Quintain Estates and Development plc. This seeks to provide a co-ordinated development of a major land holding adjacent to Wembley Stadium for 8 million square feet of commercial, residential, leisure and community floor space. Signet is co-ordinating the planning process and the submission of applications to deliver this significant regeneration project.
In addition to the Wembley project, there are other major regeneration schemes being proposed at Indescon Court and The Millennium Quarter.
The company has current planning projects or has completed projects in virtually all of the London boroughs and therefore is very familiar with the key policy and political issues that apply and can advise very quickly on the tactical approach to projects in and around the capital.
